About this Art:
This is an old-time scene of cowboy life in the 1800’s, around 1880. This particular cowboy is involved in a chase where they run the horses into a sort of “cul-de-sac” where there’s a cut bank. The horses are trying to go up and over the cut bank. He’s on top of the cut bank but he’s come to a place where there’s a separation between his bank and the horses. He’s trying to throw his rope at the lead horse just before the horse gets over the cut bank. He’s got a chance at that one horse. He could take the one down below him but for some reason he wants that particular horse. One quick chance and that’s all he’s got.
