A cowboy's wages are usually on the slim side and his work load on the heavy side. But a cowboy strikes it rich in the fall roundup. In the fall of the year, the cattle are fat and ready for market. A cowboy takes pride in gathering the cattle off the hills for the boss and bringing them down to where they can be sold. While his wages may not be much, he takes great satisfaction in bringing the cattle through the summer and into the fall in good shape, and knowing his boss is happy with the profit he will gain--that is a cowboy's gold. Plus the beautiful ride through the golden aspens in the fall is an added bonus!
