About this Art:

This painting is about my friend Craig Burr, from the Teton Basin in Idaho. He was a full time cowboy in Nevada for years, where he met his wife, Jan, and they ended up settling in the Teton Basin, where he was a full time Ferrier and blacksmith. This is his daughter, Katrina, watching him at the bellows making horseshoes by hand, which he did almost every day. He was an excellent horseshoer. He made his living that way for many years and he was also the range rider for the cattleman’s association in Swan Valley, Idaho. I used to ride with him to help him in his work and we spent many happy times in the hills. In the summer, he lived in an Indian teepee in a big canyon, where he kept his horses and his family. I spent many nights in their teepee, eating and talking. Craig passed away a few years ago. One heck of a good guy.
