This depicts the cattle ranges in southern Utah. This particular place is below the Pine Valley Mountains (the blue peaks in the background). That country can be very difficult to ride in. You definitely don’t want to lose a cow in some canyon or other difficult riding terrain. This painting shows this cowboy who found some cattle down in there and got them out.
