About this Art:
This is an actual place in the high mountains of Wyoming. It depicts a hungry cougar following its instincts. Its sensitive nose and eyes, give it ongoing information about what and who has passed this way recently that could possibly provide much needed sustenance to this big cat. It can pick up the fresh scent in the air or maybe left on the ground of an animal that could provide him a much needed meal. The eyes are penetrating and are very focused for any movement that may indicate a living animal in the area. The cougar is adept at being silent, and swift and powerful in his movements to be able to catch an animal unaware. This cat may have cubs that she has left to find food for them as well. It must travel sometimes many miles to find the right situation where its patience and perseverance can pay off in ”bringing home the bacon” so to speak. A cougar can even be good at fishing catch trout unawares. These big cats are so stealthy that it is probable they can hunt in a large area and hardly ever be seen by man or beast until it is too late for them to see him or her. In fact, one of my neighbors up the river from where I live was stalked and attacked by a very hungry cougar. I painted that scene as well, which can be viewed here.
